Risk and Controls

Organizations know why it’s important to strengthen their internal controls. But how can you improve your controls to reduce risk and drive excellence?

Building foundational knowledge, introducing new skills and heightening “control consciousness” among team members – from the executive suite to point-of-sale employees – is critical to your overall control environment. KPMG Executive Education helps organizations build this common understanding, language and behavior through our Risk and Controls courses.

Our one-day Current Issues in Internal Control over Financial Reporting (ICFR) course includes (among other topics) management of internal control hours, use of data and analytics, ways to address cyber security risks, and the potential for intelligent automation. It is taught by KPMG professionals who focus on internal audit, risk and controls for various industries.

Public In-Person Seminars cover the most relevant and trending topics to help accounting and financial reporting professionals avert skill gaps and thrive. The interactive format allows for a candid exchange of ideas, completion of interactive case studies and exercises, and real time instructor feedback. Our public seminars can also be offered in-house for your company.

In our Current Issues in Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) virtual course, we examine real-life examples that allow you to consider the impact of the issues discussed on your own ICFR program. The seminar is led by experienced KPMG professionals and is an equivalent to our in-person seminar.

Live Virtual Seminars offer real-time, interactive learning led by industry professionals in an online environment. Our small-class setting includes live video and the opportunity to interact directly with the instructor. Attend live classes from anywhere, and receive the same industry-respected content as our corresponding in-person seminars.

Our Risk and Controls digital self-studies include interactive online courses that cover topics including why organizations design and implement controls, the importance of process documentation such as flowcharting, management review control criteria, internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), the COSO framework, and how organizations use internal controls to manage risk.

Courses vary from approximately one to three hours in length and can be purchased individually or as a bundle for a discounted price.

Digital Self-Studies are developed by KPMG subject-matter professionals and/or leading practitioners from academia and business, with new courses added to the catalog regularly. Self-study CPE credits are awarded immediately upon completion of the course, and all certificates of completion are stored within your KPMG Executive Education profile for easy access. Digital self-studies are available for individual purchase, via subscription or as part of a Custom Learning Portal.
